Scholarship Information

The Madrone Group of the Sierra Club is sponsoring TWO scholarships for $1,000 each, to graduating seniors in Amador and El Dorado counties. This scholarship may be used to help a student continue his/her education beyond high school in some field related to environmental science, protection, or recreation.

Sierra Club is a national environmental organization dedicated to protecting, conserving, and enjoying our environment. Maidu Group is the local group of the club serving members in Amador and El Dorado counties.

Scholarship Requirements

High School Requirement:
Golden Sierra High School, El Dorado High School, Independence Continuation, Oak Ridge High School, Ponderosa High School, Union Mine High School, American River Charter (TK-12), Pacific Crest Academy , Divide High School (9th-12th)
Career/Major Requirement:
Environmental science, protection, or recreation
Considerations Not Applicable:
GPA, Ethnicity, Gender, Financial Need, College Choice

Additional Information:

  • Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee of Sierra Club, Maidu Group members.
  • The review includes the application, evidence of volunteer work (if any), and an essay.
  • The scholarship award(s) will be made at the winner's high school scholarship night.
  • In addition to the cash award, a one-year membership to the Sierra Club will be awarded.
