Since the inception of the Lillian Moller Gilbreth scholarship in 1959, SWE's scholarship program has consistently upheld its commitment to empowering women to achieve their full potential as engineers and leaders.

By providing financial assistance, this program has helped over five thousand women on their journeys of academic and professional success over six decades. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on the remarkable growth and impact of our program.

Career/Major Requirement:
Must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing.
Other Requirements:
  • Only candidates who identify as a female/woman.
  • Undergraduate/community college applicants must be planning to study at an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing in the upcoming academic year.
  • You must be planning to attend full-time
  • You must not be fully funded for tuition, fees, and books or equivalent.

Accredited programs are based on ABET accreditation for colleges and universities in the U.S. and internationally. The list of SWE-approved programs is the same list as the ABET-accredited programs in engineering (EAC), computing (CAC), and technology (TAC). Visit abet.org for more information.
