Scholarship Information
Students may apply the PARC Environmental Stewardship Scholarship by submitting an original video or essay describing their response to the following question about the North and Middle Fork American River canyons located upstream of Folsom Reservoir, in the Auburn State Recreation Area:
Prompt: Why do you care about the American River and its canyons, and what should be done to help protect them for the future? Please describe any activities you have participated in that relate to the river or canyons.
Scholarship Rules:
• Contestants must be graduating high school seniors, and residents of Placer, Nevada or El Dorado Counties.
• Videos and essays may be emailed to: info@parc-auburn.org. Essays may also be mailed to: PARC, P.O. Box 9312, Auburn CA 95604
• A completed entry form, available on PARC website, must be included with essay or video. https://www.parc-auburn.org/scholarship.html
• Essays must be original, typed and no longer than 500 words.
• Original videos must be submitted as an mp4 file and no longer than three minutes in length.
Protect American River Canyons is a river education and conservation organization dedicated to the protection of the natural, recreational, cultural and historical resources of the North and Middle Forks of the American River and its canyons. PARC is very active in the community, sponsoring a variety of social, river service and educational events each year. PARC remains vigilant to the threats to the river canyons. PARC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Selection of Scholarship Winners:
- Submissions will be judged based on originality, response to topic
question, overall impact and engagement in environmental,
educational, recreational or other stewardship activities
concerning the American River and its canyons. - Winners will be invited to read their essay at a PARC event, or will need to send a video of the essay.
- Winners will each receive a scholarship of $600 up to $1000 which
may be applied toward any education-related expenses.
