GOLDEN SIERRA LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP

STUDENT PORTFOLIO INSTRUCTIONS - 2025

Included in your portfolio:

1. Cover Page - Name and Graduating Class (a picture of yourself should be included)

2. Golden Sierra Local Scholarship Application- printed from this site. Once you complete your registration on this site and complete your profile you can print a copy of this application.

3. Student Summary - An essay or statement explaining who you are and what you have done in high school.

4. Personal Statement - This is your chance to tell what your plans are and what events have shaped your decision to go to school or what to study. Include any life-changing circumstances you may have had or been through.

5. A copy of your current Transcript available from Aeries Portal or Mrs. Sample

6. At least 2 letters of recommendation (not more than 4). Be sure to give a copy of your personal data form or student summary to the person you ask for a letter. Also, give them a hand written thank you note.

Submit all information in a folder that has 3 prongs/clasps down the center and pockets on the inside in the front and back.

In the front inside pocket, put all extra documents such as resume, essay, community service log, etc.

In the inside back pocket, put a copy of your whole completed packet - unstapled. (this allows counselor's to easily make copies of your application)

The following organizations will be choosing their scholarship candidates SOLELY from the information provided in your Golden Sierra Local Scholarship Student Portfolio:

JACK CANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

JEEPERS JAMBOREE ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP

NATIVE SON'S GEORGETOWN CHAPTER

SARAH GAFFNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The following groups require EXTRA DOCUMENTS:

ANDREW J. LAMPHERE SCHOLARSHIP - Must have participated in the Golden Sierra JR Grizzlies football or Cheer programs. You need to include an Andrew Lamphere Scholarship Questionnaire with your portfolio (available from Mrs. White).

BLACK OAK MINE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION - Your parent must be a BOMTA member.

CSEA - Your parent must be a member of the association at BOMUSD.

COOL CHARITY - Must have 2 extra items with your portfolio: 1) A two page double spaced essay describing a community service project(s) that you have been involved in and the impact it had on you and your community. 2) Complete the Community Volunteer Service Hours form (available from Mrs. White).

DIVIDE FRIENDS OF THE ARTS AND HISTORICAL SOCIETY- Must also submit an Art Portfolio, OR inform Mrs. White that you would like to demonstrate your talents in Music, Dance or Performance. An interview will be set up to give your demonstration. They would also like you to major or minor in the arts.

Divide Little League - Must have at least two seasons playing or umpiring for Divide Little League. Minimum GPA 3.0. Write one page (250 word) essay answering 2 questions: What is your experience in Divide Little League? How has Baseball impacted your life?

FRIENDS OF GOLDEN SIERRA SCHOLARSHIP (FOGS) - Parent must be a member of FOGS (by 12/31), Student must be a member of a varsity team or a school play cast in their your senior year, and you must also write a 1/2 - one page essay on how you have demonstrated the Grizzly Spirit.

GEORGETOWN DIVIDE HEALTH CARE AUXILIARY - Must pursue a career in the health field, and applicants must include this ambition in their goals essay. Applicants must also submit 5 extra copies of their portfolio.

GLASS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION - Must have a 3.0 or above. Write a one page essay on the following two words: "IMPRESS ME!" Or instead of an essay, demonstrate "Impress Me" Any topic, be creative.

GOLD NUGGET SOCCER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP - Must also submit a Soccer Resume, and a brief statement as to what you have given back to the soccer community.

WIFFS - Must be a resident of Auburn Lake Trails and submit a brief statement describing their experience living in ALT. Letter from school and community member.

All Portfolios must be turned into the Counseling Center by January 31, 2025- no late portfolios will be accepted.

Print off the list of Organizations that require "EXTRA DOCUMENTS" and include it with your portfolio - Highlight which scholarships that you did the extra work for, and that you would like to be considered for.
