Scholarship Information

This $1,500 scholarship is in memory of Joan Barsotti, a beloved Placerville community member for 34 years. Joan was an advocate for youth who experienced hardships and she had a desire to help these students succeed in college. Joan was also a passionate storyteller and loved to hear other peoples' stories, whether they be fact or fiction, a poem, short story or essay. While the scholarship requires a personal writing sample, it does not require a specific field of study. The scholarship recognizes AVID students graduating from El Dorado High School and have had challenges and demonstrate a desire to overcome their adversity and succeed in life. The scholarship provides $500 freshman year and $1,000 sophomore year upon proof of enrollment.
