Scholarship Information

Soroptimist International of Placerville - A worldwide service organization for women to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. We offer five (5) $1,000 to $2,500 scholarships limited to female students graduating from El Dorado, Golden Sierra, Union Mine, Independence Continuation, and Pacific Crest High Schools, and vocational training through ROP or other vocational programs.

  • Two (2) $1,000 scholarships for applicants going into college or a vocational training program.
  • One (1) $1,000 to $2,500 scholarship is available for an applicant going into college with an emphasis on community service involvement (Carolyn Hibbeln Memorial Scholarship).
  • One (1) $1,000 scholarship is available for a woman either entering college, or returning to college, to pursue a degree in the fields of engineering, math, or science (Women in Engineering Scholarship).
  • One (1) $1,500 scholarship is available for young women going into college or already attending college. Community service involvement will be a main point of emphasis. (Lennie Mills Memorial Scholarship).
  • One (1) $1,000 scholarship is available for young women going into college to pursue a degree in the field of Biology (Jan Didriksen Memorial Scholarship for Women in Biology).

 

For all scholarships, preference will be given to young women from low-income families.


Interviews via telephone or in-person may be scheduled with select finalists.

Additional Scholarship Information

The scholarship will be paid upon receipt of 'Verification of Enrollment' from the respective business school, trade school, college, or university registrar's office.

Scholarships will be presented at our Awards Night Dinner tentatively scheduled for April 2024.
