Scholarship Information

The Placerville Lions Club has established a scholarship fund to help finance the further education of deserving members of the graduating class of El Dorado High School. Funds for this scholarship come from the income from a bequest to the club from the late James Hamilton (1981-82 Club President) and his wife, Ruth.

Three $2,000 scholarships will be offered for the Class of 2025.

Additional Scholarship Information

The Placerville Lions Club Scholarship Committee will review applications and select students to interview. Interviews will take place in April. The committee will select the winners following the interview and announce the results at the EDHS Scholarship & Awards Night. The winners and their parents will also be invited to attend a Lions Club meeting at a later date.

SELECTION AND PAYMENT PROCEDURES

The President of the Placerville Lions Club shall name a Selection Committee to select the scholarship recipients from the eligible applicants. No member of the selection committee shall be related to or have close ties to any applicant. In making its selection the Selection

The committee shall consider the following matters:

  1. The applicant's Grade Point Average. [which must be 3.0 or higher]
  2. The applicant's extracurricular activities and community involvement.
  3. The letters of recommendation received.
  4. The essay submitted by the applicant.
  5. The applicant's financial need taking into account other scholarships received, the income and needs of the applicant's family including educational and medical costs of other family members.

    The scholarships will be used for tuition, fees, books, and required supplies, room and board away from home and other necessary expenses on presentation of copies of receipts showing costs have been paid in the amount of $1500 within two years of the award.
