Scholarship Information

The Placerville Emblem Club #287 was established on November 19, 1955. The club is part of the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America, which was instituted in 1926, in the state of Rhode Island. Club members are affiliated with the Elks. The purpose of all Emblem Clubs is to contribute to programs in their regional areas.

The Placerville Emblem Club will award scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing a degree. Priority will be given to a member's child or grandchild and non-members are eligible to apply.

The scholarship awarded will be up to $1,000

High School Requirement:
American River Charter (TK-12), Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter , Clarksville Charter (TK-12th), Cottonwood (TK-12th), Divide High School (9th-12th), El Dorado High School, Golden Sierra High School, Independence Continuation, John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills, Mountain View High, Mountainside Middle College High School, Mountainside Success Academy (8th -12th), Oak Ridge High School, Other - Private, Pacific Crest Academy , Ponderosa High School, Rite of Passage, Union Mine High School

Other Requirements:
  • Priority is given to a Child/Grandchild of a Member
  • Be a graduate of a high school on the Western Slope of El Dorado County.
  • Show evidence of good character, personality, and leadership ability.
  • Must matriculate as a full time student at an institution of higher learning with a declared major in a related field. Full time is defined as 12 units or more or the equivalent.

Additional Scholarship Information

The recipient shall not be a relative of any member of the Scholarship Committee, with the exception of the Scholarship awarded to a Placerville Emblem Club member's child or grandchild.

The award will be given at the high school scholarship awards night.

Payment of the scholarship award will be made by Placerville Emblem Club #287 upon receipt of verification for fall registration from the Registrar's office at the recipient's college.

If a recipient should become ineligible to receive funds due to grades, number of units carried or the equivalent, or failure to show proof of registration, the funds will revert back into the Placerville Emblem Club #287 Scholarship Fund.
