Scholarship Information

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office offers a Law Enforcement Explorer Post to youths in the community. The explorer program is part of Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 15 years old and older. The Explorer's purpose is to provide experiences that help young people develop and mature so that they become responsible and caring adults. The program is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations within their communities. The result of the Sheriff's Office Explorer program is helping youths pursue and further their special interests in Law Enforcement. The El Dorado County Sheriff Explorer program provides a variety of law enforcement support functions including traffic control assistance, parking and crowd control, crime prevention and public information, and other public service activities to make our community better and safer. Explorers also receive many hours of law enforcement training by El Dorado County Sheriff's department personnel. The POST 457 is offering one $500 scholarship for Senior students.

Tallac High, South Tahoe High School, Other - Private, John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills, Charter Community School Home Study Academy , Rite of Passage, Clarksville Charter (TK-12th), Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter , Cottonwood (TK-12th), American River Charter (TK-12), Charter Connections Academy (9th-12th), Charter University Prep (7th-12th), Charter College & Career Prep (7th -12th), Pacific Crest Academy , Divide High School (9th-12th), Elevated Digital Academy

  • Student must be a senior attending any high school/home school that an EDSO Explorer member attends.
  • Applicant must be an active EDSO Explorer in good standing and plan to use scholarship funds towards education.
