Scholarship Information
The Union Mine AVID program is offering a one-time scholarship to a graduating AVID senior. The student must be a Senior enrolled in the UMHS AVID Program and have committed to a four-year university.
Scholarship Requirements
- High School Requirement:
- Union Mine High School
- GPA Minimum:
- 3.20
- College Requirement:
- Any 4 year college or university
- Other Requirements:

- Must have been in UMHS AVID for at least 2 years.
- Academic merit: Student must have at least a 3.2 GPA
- Commitment to community service as documented by community service hours
- Upstanding AVID student
- Considerations Not Applicable:
- Ethnicity, Gender, Financial Need, Intended Career/Major
Required Documents
- Letter of Recommendation (letters of recommendation must be signed by the recommender before upload) - qty 2 , Only one may be from an AVID teacher/counselor
- Unofficial Transcript - qty 1 , Must obtain PDF from College & Career Center
- Essay - qty 1 , Topic: Students who know how to overcome adversity thrive in college. Describe how being a student in the AVID Program has helped you to overcome obstacles and reach your goals., Word Count: 500 max, typed
- Scholarship Specific Application - qty 1 , Can be picked up in the College and Career Center
