Scholarship Information

The Union Mine AVID program is offering a one-time scholarship to a graduating AVID senior. The student must be a Senior enrolled in the UMHS AVID Program and have committed to a four-year university.

Scholarship Requirements

High School Requirement:
Union Mine High School
GPA Minimum:
3.20
College Requirement:
Any 4 year college or university
Other Requirements:
  • Must have been in UMHS AVID for at least 2 years.
  • Academic merit: Student must have at least a 3.2 GPA
  • Commitment to community service as documented by community service hours
  • Upstanding AVID student
Considerations Not Applicable:
Ethnicity, Gender, Financial Need, Intended Career/Major

  • Letter of Recommendation (letters of recommendation must be signed by the recommender before upload) - qty 2 , Only one may be from an AVID teacher/counselor
  • Unofficial Transcript - qty 1 , Must obtain PDF from College & Career Center
  • Essay - qty 1 , Topic: Students who know how to overcome adversity thrive in college. Describe how being a student in the AVID Program has helped you to overcome obstacles and reach your goals., Word Count: 500 max, typed
  • Scholarship Specific Application - qty 1 , Can be picked up in the College and Career Center
